Here are some common tips to help troubleshoot, setup, maintain and work in your facility.

General Maintenance

  • Turn off Software Update - Edit systems are workstations. Most professional content creation software has strict versioning requirements. No need to break something by accident.
  • Repair Permissions after software installs - Some software installers can inadvertently damage system persmissions. Run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app and repair permissions post install.
  • Keep Quicktime Components to a minimum - Most editing and playback software install custom Quicktime Components to /Library/Quicktime/. 3rd party components can interfere with these codecs and drivers. You probably dont need XVid, Divx and experimental OGG Vorbis support on your Edit suite.
